I've been reading this forum for years, it's mainly how I learned I've been smoking poorly for decades.

First smoker was your basic Brinkman Charcoal unit, for Thanksgiving and Christmas turkeys only.  Next was a Brinkman electric (loved not having to wake up 4 times during the night to add charcoal/check temps).  I stuck with those for a while, then started getting into smoking butt, ribs, etc.

Just picked up my Gen 2.5 40" MES today and hope I don't screw things up to much getting used to it.

This forum has been an amazing resource for me through the years, I doubt I'll have much to contribute as far as smoking is concerned, but maybe I'll add some value.

About me?  I'm an IT guy, live in Newberry, Florida with my wife and kids.  Huge Gator fan and love taking the boat out for scalloping and saltwater fishing (not very good at catching anything though).

Welcome from SC. If you've been reading here for years, you know how it works. If you have a need or a question, just ask and keep reading. The good folks here are always eager to share their ideas and tips.

Good luck and keep on smokin', Joe
