just about to finish my first fridge conversion it was and koolerator ice box from thr 40'S turning out good so far, but today bought a 1946 wizzard refrige in great shape it is cooled by an amonia type system

i've heard they are very dangerous any pointers before i tear it down   other than do it outside in a

well ventilated area??

If the unit with the ammonia system still has a charge in it, I would proceed with caution. Ammonia can can cause severe chemical burns to skin, mucas membranes, and any moist tissue, like eyes.

If you still decide to open up the system, do some research or get some qualified help. It can be done, but you don't want to just cut the lines.
