I just picked up a nice load of apple wood and i would like to now. That if i leave it in whole for for the winter? Or would it be better to cut into little pices and dry in the basement for the winter so I can use it in the spring?

It will season better if cut into splits. As far as putting it in the basement I really can't answer that one down here we have too many bugs including termites to bring wood inside to dry. So what I would do is stack it outside off the ground a little and cover it with a tarp or something. Oh and by and large we don't have basements [IMG]

Split it .Stack it off the ground and wait. The basement will take longer to dry out because of the high humidity most basements have.[IMG]
