I just picked up a nice load of apple wood and i would like to now. That if i leave it in whole for for the winter? Or would it be better to cut into little pices and dry in the basement for the winter so I can use it in the spring?

It will season better if cut into splits. As far as putting it in the basement I really can't answer that one down here we have too many bugs including termites to bring wood inside to dry. So what I would do is stack it outside off the ground a little and cover it with a tarp or something. Oh and by and large we don't have basements

Split it .Stack it off the ground and wait. The basement will take longer to dry out because of the high humidity most basements have.
