Hi everyone!!  I'm a newbie to the forum.  I've had several smokers in my life and they just got used occasionally.  Last year I sold a great Brinkman horizontal smoker that I'd had for years and rarely used.  Sold it for $50.  I'm kicking myself now.   For convenience sake I bought a Masterbuilt Electric Smoker a few months ago.  I works pretty good and I like the convenience of not having to constantly monitor the temp.  I'll probably add a charcoal smoker as I get more into this.  Any ideas on horizontal vs vertical??

Love reading your posts in the forums and I hope to contribute as I get better with the smoker.  Usually I spend more time in the kitchen than out on the smoker but I'm working on that...especiall now that summer is near.  I claim the kitchen and my wife is fine with that.  I cook and she cleans up...can it get any better than that????

I use both.  The only real difference is that with a vertical, you have your heat source directly under your food.  Generally not a problem, though with good technique.  Verticals take up less room in the patio or deck.  Mostly, it's just personal preference.
