My name is Eva and I just bought my first smoker last night. It is a cheap\beginner smoker from brinkmann. It is also a charcoal smoker, because I am very adamant on not using gas or electricity for any type of smoking or bbq (personal preference). I have never done any type of smoking, but I got it because I want to make jerky mainly. I will try my hand at it tomorrow and then post the results elsewhere.

Welcome, Glad to have you with us. This is the place to learn, lots of good info and helpful members.

Be sure to check out Jeff's 5Day Smoking Basics eCourse, you can find it here

5 Day eCourse

Howdy, Glad to have you on. I am still new at this as well. I have learned more in the month or so I've been a member than I ever thought I would.
the 5 day course is great, don't pass it up.
If you have any questions the folks on the site are always happy to spread their knowledge. The FAQ has some great info on posting and what all the acronyms mean. Welcome and happy smoking.

Welcome! Jerky takes practice..don't get discouraged. I just bought a charcoal smoker that is probably very similar to what you have, referred to on this site as an "ECB" el cheapo brinkman. It is amazing what you can turn out on that little bugger. Have fun!
