Howdy, I'm Bob and I'm from around the Seattle area. I have been smoking salmon for a few years now in my Big Chief but a couple of weeks ago got the wild hair to try and smoke a pork butt in it....... nope, didn't happen. The Big Chief does really well with Salmon but doesn't get hot enough for anything else. Sooooo....... went out and bought a Masterbuilt Pro propane smoker and am gonna try it again soon! I am going to hang on to the Big Chief for salmon though 'cause I think the new smoker will get too warm.... What do ya'all think?

I think you just might need two smokers.  But will say that my first smoker was a Chief.  Many many years ago.  And it cooked brisket pretty well. So I'd think a butt would do okay on one.  Just takes time.

Hi Bob, and welcome aboard!  Glad you joined us.  This is a great place to share ideas on our favorite pastimes...smoking and grilling great food!  There are lots of friendly and knowledgeable folks here who really enjoy helping one another.  Any time you need help, just ask and you'll get plenty!

And I can't think of a good reason why a guy can't have 2 smokers...heck there's been times when I had as many as 4 in the garage!  But now I'm down to only 2!
