Hello All,

Brand new to this site and also new to smoking in general, trying to find my away around this site I have urgent pre-thanksgiving questions...

Below are photos of my first and only smoke to date which was an excellent first attempt if I do say so myself, but it led me to have MANY questions...help experts!

Hey moto,

I was directed to post my question in the poultry forum, so I just posted it there. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to the board! It is SO encouraging when a first try works out.

Use the Search here to look up your model of smoker and see how people use them.

Thanks for the greeting, I'm looking forward to trying some new things and checking out the recipes and information of folks who have been doing this a while.

Doing our first deer hunt this year and was curious if anyone has smoked venison recipes...I suppose I'll start searching the forum

You're on the road, and are sure to please your diners. You can't go wrong smoking, worst case need a bit extra of BBQ sauce etc. to stave off dryness. A high-grade digital meat thermometer is a smoker's must-have. I offer this, being somewhat of a purist: If you have kids, or work a lot of OT, or commute, then propane, pellets, electric etc. is okay with me. I did all three at the same time, and while I did have a propane grill and used it a lot then, I got a brinkman cylinder type (20 yrs. ago) and started on my adventure in smoking. If you have no "excuse," get some charcoal and wood chips and make some serious flavor. Please consider the end result, you won't be disappointed!
I offer this as eye candy, from a week ago, using cherry and a splash of hickory. The thermometer is rotated so that 225 is straight up, so you have an idea of low & slow. These small birds took 4 hrs.
