Hi to all, name is Buddy. I'm from Lexington SC. I never knew there was such a forum. I am so glad I found this place. I have an old electric Brinkman Gourmet and a Smokey Mountain Gas that still serve me well. I have been looking for a new electric smoker and have found lots of valuable information here. I am looking at three models at the moment.... the MES 40... the Bradley w/ 6 shelves .....and the Cajun Injector. Feel free to chime in with Pro's and Con's of any of these cause I'm still on the fence.

So far I like parts of each of them I wish I could pull all the good out of each and make my own version. I want to try my hand at cheese and bacon. And the FATTY sounds like like my next favorite. This place has got me excited about smoking all over again.

Buddy welcome to SMF glad you joined us. You'll find lots of good info and some great recipes here. We sure have a lot of happy MES owners around here so if I were to go out tomorrow and get an electric smoker it would have to be the MES40

Welcome to the SMF. Glad to have you here. Lots of good folks, great recipes and knowledge. Looking forward to your first qview.

Welcome to SMF Buddy, I can understand your dilemma not knowing which smoker to get. I have no personal experience with any of those so my suggestion would get all 3

Dang Buddy, we're as close to neighbors as you can get on this forum.  There's a fella on here from Northeast Cola and one from Greenville.  I gotta warn you about the Fatty.  Once you make one it's all over.  Breakfast will never be the same again.

On a side note, Bi-lo has baby backs for $2.99/lb.  Stock up.

Hi Buddy! Welcome aboard.

This is a great place.

Welcome Buddy!  I started off with a Masterbuilt Gasser and just now purchased the MES 40.  Hope to get my first smoke on it this weekend, but from all of my readings, the MES is the way to go.  Sam's has a great deal on them!   I'm up in Fort Mill, SC if you're ever up this way!

Welcome Buddy, I think you'll find that the MES 40 is the way to go. I've had one for a couple of years & it's been a great smoker. I also have a WSM. For dependability, value & ease of use the MES 40 is hard to beat. There's a whole bunch of folks here that have them and you just don't have to many complaints about them.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes.

I've pretty much decided on the MES 40.

I'd love to do as raptor700 said....but I don't think I can slip that one by the wife.

LexSCsmoker...that is close maybe we can meet up sometime.

SmokinPirate....let me know how your first time goes with the MES 40....I also sent you a PM with some other questions'

Again thanks to ALL and I look forward to learning all I can and sharing whatever I can.

Hello Buddy, and welcome to the SMF. Keep reading the forums, there is a lot of good tips and advise from great folks. It's all good my friend.

First off Welcome Buddy to SMF. You'll like it here for there are alot of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking. Now there are alot of proven recipes for some amazing things here too. So if you need sign up for the E-Course it's free and it will give you the basics of smoking and some good methods to use also. So the next big thing for you to do is go out and get you something to smoke and if you happen to have any questions just post it here and we will be happy to answer them for you.

Welcome To Your New Addiction

Thanks mballi3011

I just finished lesson 2 of the E course....It is great. Reading the forums along with the E course I have picked up quite a few things already. I am not new to smoking I have a ECB and a GOSM. I never used them often enough to get really good at it. I can see reading, listening, and asking are going to get me a lot closer to being good at it.
