Hey, folks!

Just joined the forum.  Not sure why I haven't been here the last 20 years, but at least I found it.

I'm a long-time hunter in Nebraska and I helped start the Sportsmen Assisting Nebraska's Disabled Sportsmen program for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

I've hunted deer most of my life and in the last dozen years, been exclusively bow hunting deer and turkeys.

I started smoking meats with my dad when I was a little kid.  Mostly smoked salmon back then on a little Chief smoker.  I still can't smoke fish like my dad did!

I'm usually smoking ribs or pork butts, but around the holidays, I do turkeys for anyone who wants one, as long as they give me the turkey.

I really enjoy making sausage.  Just about anything.  I make andouille every year for the Tangier Shrine.  My daughter (11) and I can crank out 25 pounds of sausage in a couple hours.

She and I made some beef jerky not too long ago.  It must be good when I come home and the kids have eaten all my jerky!!!

Made some beef sticks a few years ago and was adding some red pepper flakes.  The top came off and I added the whole bottle.  After a few choice words, I thought it was ruined.  Tried to scoop the pile back into the bottle.  Long story short ----- best darn stix I ever made!

I have a MES30 (see, I'm using the abbrev.) and I just ordered my ANMPS to try it out.  I can maintain temp, but not smoke.  Hopefully this will help.

Anyway, we're big Husker fans. Dog is even named Husker.

Looking forward to revising my bacon skills and maybe upping the sausage game, too.

Thanks!

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us! Would you mind updating your profile to show the other SMF members where you are located?  Might meet a few neighbors.

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per TulsaJeff (the forum owner). Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!
