Afternoon all, I'm Steve from NJ and I've been getting the SM newsletter for over a year now, maybe 2. Finally decided to join the forum to learn more about smoking after I got bit hard by the bug last year when I made some pulled pork for my birthday party and then for a Phillies tailgate and everyone raved about how good it was. I started out backwards with cooking pork and was doing whole hogs for my deer clubs pig roast, I learned from another member, but looking back after reading a lot, we could've been making much better meat!! It was good and people liked it, but I found that just throwing a hog on a smoker/cooker and basting once in awhile isn't the best way to do it. LOL Right now my favorite to smoke is butts/shoulder for pulled pork, but I want to venture out and try a brisket this year. Right now I'm using a master forge propane smoker, but want to also learn more about cooking with charcoal/wood. Hopefully you'll see my name around, most likely asking questions, but also to show off some of that beautiful meat that we all love.
