Hi everyone. Chris from St. Paul, MN here.

I've got some friends who smoke competitively, and after tasting the ribs, loin and and pulled pork they've made on their rigs, thought I needed to get in on the fun myself.

I picked up a Brinkmann Gourmet water smoker last night on sale at Lowe's and plan to perform a couple of mods and give it a run this weekend with some ribs and some ABTs. I thought the Brinkmann would be a good intro to smoking.

My girlfriend is a little apprehensive about another hobby (cigars, golf, craft beers, etc ...) but she'll come around if the product is good

I think I've compiled all of the gear I'll need to get started, so, wish me luck!
 
First off welcome Chris to SMF. You'll like it here cause there are abunch of good folks here that would just love to help you out with just about anything to do with smoking. We really like to have newbies here because they can bring in a new propective to how things are done. There's nothing like a new set of eyes to give and new way to make things that little differant to make things alittle better. So I hope you know about the Qview here.

It's also free and it will give you the basics of smoking. So after all of that you just need to go grab something to smoke and if you have any question just post them here and we will answer it quickly so you don't have any mishaps with your smoke.

Welcome Chris to smf, You're gonna learn alot here, and I think this will become the one hobby of yours that your girlfriend, won't complain that your doing too much of.
 
I do wish you luck. But with the experts here on SMF your in good company. Your girl friend will notice supple changes at first and the she will realizes your doing all the cooking and will be all for it. Welcome from Monticello MN.Bill
