Hey:
I bought a new gas grill for the new patio earlier this year. I decided that the investment warranted my becoming a grill master. I started reading cook books, blogs, and forums which lead me to the problem of how to get some smoke on my pork chops while indirect grilling. Being a handy guy, I quickly rigged up a smoke box to the far right burner ( dedicated smoke box burner) works great. Now I'm smoking'. It wasn't long before I started recording BBQ programs on TV, I became a Big fan of American Pit masters. I do realize there is a Big difference between competition BAN, and real feeding frenzy back yard lip smackin' goodness, but these guys (and gals, hail the diva) got me all fired up! All of a sudden my little side burner smoke box got me feeling all inadequate.

Now I used to be a charcoal guy. I understand why some guys prefer it, and I know a couple dopes that say "it's not BBQ unless you are using a stick burner", but I' m a gas guy. The only ash I'm hauling is from my smoke box. After painstaking research (thank the Lord for the internet), and a few drive bays, I finally pulled the trigger on a Masterbuilt 40" ventricle gas smoker. I put it together last weekend, seasoned it on Saturday, figured a workaround for the kinky smoke box (thanks to this forum) on Saturday night and made me first feast of BAN goodness on Sunday. Two huge slabs of salmon from Costco.

I can't wait to smoke some pork belly!!

See you all around the forums

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per TulsaJeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!
