I fired up my new GOSM this morning and put on a small pork tenderloin and a nice selection of beef country style ribs...first time I have tried smoking beef ribs like these...I just gave them a shot of apple juice and some Capt. Morgan spiced rum...
My Brinkmann vertical was great after converting to propane...But this baby just has more room. And to think I got the big block off ebay for 70 bucks....total with shipping was a mere 140.00 and some change...what a deal...Sorry home depot and lowes...I tried you guys first and both did not have them in stock...

I am going to add a pan of Dutch's wicked baked beans after while to go with the smokin...and am going to try my first hand at the Mahogany sauce...

Hope everyone has a good turn out on your Easter Smoke...

Thanks again for all the tips, tricks, etc...
Steve

I just oredered mine from Walmart online for 128.00 +tax = 140.00...comes delivered free to my nearest Walmart.

should be here in about a week. It's my wife's birthday present....(OK..maybe not).

I live in the home of wal-mart...
I hope she likes it....I know you will..hehe!!!

You have lots of room for several different things...

Steve

I just pulled the tenderloin off the smoker...sliced an end piece and boy it is wonderful...Waiting on my daughter and her girls to show up...I turned everything down on temps...Beans are looking good, ribs are looking really good...(wanting to check out my first mahogany sauce)...Gonna finish my Idaho red potatoes and all will be well...
This waiting is whipping me...I may not be able to do it much longer...I hope all your guests show up early.... mine are late...what a deal...

Ok, enough whinning....Enjoy your Easter weekend........I have and hope you did too!!!

Amazon shows in stock soon...home depot didn't have any and neither did lowes...I was told at home depot that they guess they didn't sell enough last year to restock them...but they could order me one...I am guessing by doing that, you wouldn't know what you were getting...I got mine off an ebay auction for seventy bucks...I used it yesterday for the first time and it worked great for me...I don't have anything to compare mine with...no one around here has them in stock...so I don't know if mine is the cheaper version or one of the better ones, but it is working so far...One thing I noticed is that some have vents at the top and bottom...this one only has a vent on the top...it draws air from the bottom...so no vents down on the sides...
I am happy with the turn out from yesterdays smoking...so I have to say I done alright...easy maintaining temps, etc....Good Luck, enjoy it and have fun. Steve

likewise with me....smokers out here are limited plus its my first one. I got to get the experience down first then can move up to the big boys!

Thanks....My smoker maybe the cheaper model...I don't know...but what I ate off it wasn't...hehe!!! I am a Happy Smoker...thats for sure...Really glad to of found this place and being able to learn a few things...I started out with a charcoal only smoker and fought to maintain temps, etc...I then converted my old brinkmann over to propane and made things simple...but felt I would like more room...so I bought the GOSM off ebay to accomplish that...It has a lot more room than my brinkmann vertical...It worked...I have plenty of room now......the smoking seems to be working good too, so I am not concerned whether I bought the heavier model or not...What interests me is what comes out of the smoker...and so far I am pleased. I can turn out some good ribs, meatloaf, tenderloins, etc....Or at least I have been told I can...(good neighbors)...So I say, smoke with what cha got...enjoy doing it...and if ya find something better later on.....Buy it.......I did....and am happy with it...

Amen.....Thanks Debi and Pigcicles...This is a great place ain't it....I have smoked meat for several years...and now after finding this place, I am really enjoying it...I love the pics others send in and the ideas I get from it...So far I have not paid too much attention to what they were smoking it in...hehe!!!!

Lets keep it going and lets keep smoking........It's Addictive.......

Kaptn -

It's on page 1 about half way down that great big juicy delectable hunk-O-meat - that's the tenderloin!
