This is my first time smoking. Got my first smoker and it is a Masterbuilt 30 inch electric. It was a gift from one of my good neighbors since I recently moved to extreme and rural Northern Vermont. Just preseasoned it tonight and trying to figure out what meat to try in it first. Any tips would be appreciated and any tips for bbq sauce recipes or dry rubs, times and temp for cooking....thanks.

Welcome to the site. You will find great folks here with tons of knowledge and always ready to share tips, recipes, ideas and more. All you need to do is ask. As for your first cook, a pork butt is always good. It is a very forgiving piece of meat. The rub and sauce recipes that are sold on this forum, along with the cookbook, are a good basic way to start and it helps to support the site. Good luck, good smoking and don't forget to send pics of your cooks, Joe

Welcome to the board, V! I suggest starting with chicken since it's inexpensive and you can learn the traits of your smoker. Look around in the recipes sections and you'll get some ideas to start with.
