  1. Hello, my name is Jennifer. I live in Minnesota. I am on my 2nd year with my Char-Broil off set charcoal/wood smoker. I mostly have learned from watching my dad smoke on the same unit, got the smoking bug from him for sure. My "specialty" is turkey and chicken, at least I haven't totally ruined any of those yet. We smoke turkeys for Thanksgiving, and last year the torch was passed on to me. This can be a challenge, as it can be rather cold in MN on Thanksgiving. So far the information I have come across on this forum has been really helpful. I didn't know that the temp "plateau" was real, I just thought I was doing something wrong. Thanks! Look forward to learning lots. I love cooking, and smoking brings it to another level.
  2. Hello and Welcome to our addiction.  Many good folk here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share.  If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice.  All info you can provide us with such as smoker type, location and so on will help us answer any questions you may have, and pictures help a bunch.  Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there.  Check out Jeff’s 5 day smoking E-Course ( link below ) that will help you get started.  We look forward to your contributions.  Have fun.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!
