Okay all, here is a little about me.I've lurked here for years always wanting to build my own smoker and finallly I have some free time to do so. I maybe from Illinois (90 miles straight south of Chicago)but corn fed beef  beats stringy tough grass fed beef anyday, and we do know how to raise corn here.Sorry, but I am prejiduce when it comes to great marbled beef. I was a farmer for over 35 years until the family farm was sold after my grandparents passed away, and during that time fabrication, wrenching, welding and fixing has always been done.We also had a good sized herd of Red Angus catte so I know whats involved in raising good beef. I'm now a vested Operating Engineer out of Joliet Local 150. I love operating  excavators and can toss mountains of dirt fast,or using lazers for precision digging. So I guess I've been around the block some.

Aside from my talents we also raise and import German Shepherds. We love and have been raising only this breed of dog for over 30 years now.Other hobbies include camping, radio control model airplanes, tractor pulls, and making things.I love welding and fabricating here.Been married over 20 years to a great wife and  have a soon to be 18 year old daughter in a few days. Her college years are just starting,,and I thought the parents finally got a break once the kids left the nest? Thats me in a nuttshell,,nothing special but I love working in a shop and designing new things and now I'm ready to design and build my own. I'm wanting to build a combination reverse flow and direct stick burner in one unit. Some meals don't require low and slow and with prices on everything going thru the roof building a multi use cooker-smoker is my goal. Thats why I'm here,to learn and not burn!
