Ok got the door clamped into position.    The bullet hinges are a bit small.  I'm going to weld on some wings

The next issue is the slam latch, it not so easy to get the holes just right.  Plus you need to find the rivnut gun that has been lost for more than a year.

Plan B it's 10 times better.    Take some 3" x .25 plate and drill tap on the bench and then weld on to the door and post.

Way better, if you don't like it super simple to move it too, if you just tack it in place.  :)

Day 5000, well is seems like it.
This is taking a lot more time to finish. The doors need a lot more attention to details to get them built and hung.

After some setbacks I got the hinges welded on. Working on the slam latch now. I also got the intake vent installed. 2 more smaller doors too go and I will see the light at the end of the tunnel

It sure would be nice if the Chinese made a cheap version of the Kason latch you have.

The $10 latches they sell on Amazon are not heavy enough and no one wants to spring $500 for a door latch.

I am looking but have not found anything that is a suitable replacement latch for smoker doors.

Got the door hung, latch mounted, and air intake install.

Going to push to get this finished this weekend.

That would be awesome. Sometimes smaller is better. The key is the insulation, as you can maintain a constant temperature without constant attention

I would have to look through my receipts, but I bought it from eBay
Same for a lot of parts as nobody local had 2" pipe The gasket from smoker builder parts.com

I used Frank Cox plans.

So I did not do any calculation.
From using the smoker it works great.
Seems a bit slow to get up to temperature.
Maybe an hour plus. Depends if you crack open the fire pit door and let in some air.
A bbq guru fan is needed to really make this unit be 100% complete.

That will come later.

Looks good R290

One thing I would be worried about is with a door that large it will bow under heat.

I put an X on all the large doors of my smokers to help stop it bowing and leaking.

Great build and waiting on cooking pics.
