catman, let me start first by saying that i am no expert on building smokers ,however if i can help in any way i will, just ask . there is so much info in here it will make your head spin.to give you an idea the tank you see is 88 inches long,30inch diameter and the shell is 1/4'' thick. the fire box i planned is 30x30x24.as for reverse flow the heat/smoke start in the firebox and head down a tunnel under the grates to the other end of the tank where they make a 180 degree turn now coming in contact with the meat and head toward the side the firebox is on, exhausting at the upper corner. as i understand this design is forgiving and supposed to be very even in temp. side to side. sorry i dont have c.a.d. or i would try to draw up something. hope this helps.now lets get started

I too am building a reverse flow offset. I really lucked into a lot of free steel and professional welders (built up a lot of favors, actually) AND I made AutoCAD drawings to have it all done. I don't have the ability right now to post them but I can post some pdf's later on tonight. I'd love to have any input as it's scheduled to be built within the next two weeks and I've never seen a reverse flow in person before. I'd like to be able to make any design changes soon.
...stay tuned.

Unclebeef,
If you'd like to document your build for future reference I can help. If you can sketch, scan, and e-mail, I can make the dwg's/pdf's. I'd love to help a fellow smoker out and hopefully between the two of us and this awesome forum, we can develop some reference drawings and helpful do's and don'ts for future builders. I'll send you a private message with my e-mail address.

did some more work, new photos!!!! i couldnt hold the straight edge steady enough on the long cuts, so i riveted to the smoker. the edges came out so nice.then i tack welded in the first section of the baffle/heat deflector and the drip tray.

That's looking great unclebeef. I noticed that 4 or 5 of your photos have been deleted. Maybe you can post those pics again. Your idea of riviting the straight edge is genus! points there for ya!

thanks for the props pinkmeat! let me try again with these couple pics

ahh ...there we go!

Unclebeef,

Does the angle iron for the 1st section of your drip tray go downhill at all toward the drain valve pipe or is it level? Thanks for posting the awesome pics, please keep it up. When you are finished, I'm going to capture all the pics and useful comments in this thread and give them to the guy that I want to build my smoker. He builds cool offset smokers, but I don't think he knows anything about reverse flow.

pantherfan83,the angle iron /drip tray does have a drop of a 1/4'' towards the drain, while the smoker and trailer is sitting level.if i need more ill just lower the tongue end of the trailer a little.

unclebeef your craftsmanship looks great. I have the same size rev. flow that you are building. I had mine built by a local craftsman. couple of sugestions give it alot of intake for outside air. mine is a 5x7 slider and i have to leave the door cracked to get it hot enough.also the air into the smoking chamber from fire box make it big, i had to expand my opening to get temps up.I hope you are as happy with yours as i am with mine. be perpared they are fuel hogs.
hoss

Unclebeef you definitely have skills and its showing. That looks like its gonna be a fine smoker and I look forward to following your progress.

Great job Unclebeef!! Going to be an sweet smoker!

The smoker and the welds are looking great. Thank's to all for the info and links. One of the builds is on my short list to do, the info on this site will make it a little less daunting task.

looks like a great project I wish I had one of those.

Looking foward to seeing more of your great work, keep us posted & keep up the good work

I think it looks great nice welds. What thickness metal did you use for the baffle plate?
