Hi All,

New beginner here from southern CA.  Currently researching what to purchase for my first smoker.

  to SMF!

Glad to have you aboard!

The first thing your going to have to decide is what kind of smoker do you want.

Electric, propane, charcoal, or wood.

Then what is your price range.

I suggest visiting the different forums & asking questions.

Al

Thanks!  I think I decided on propane, I posted in the propane forum as well.  Looking at the Masterbuilt I think.

You may want to look at a Smoke Vault 24. They are made by Camp Chef. They are very reliable & well built. I have had one for several years. I have 6 smokers & I use the SV quite a bit.

Good afternoon and welcome to the forum, from another sunny and hot day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Something to think about is your lifestyle (free time). If you have a young family or hectic life you'll want to look into something more hands off than if you have the time.
Good luck!

I ordered the Smoke Vault 24".  A little more hands off than charcoal, but not so tethered as electric.
