I found two barrels that I could fit together for a double barrel UDS. This is what I came up with. I think it came out pretty good. I will try it out with a couple of 7 pound pork butts tomorrow. You can use two racks or hang the meat like chicken halves or ribs. You should be able to hang 12-15 chicken halves plus put a rack on for more. I also put in two prob holes, one for each rack

Looks pretty cool...........But can I ask a question?...... I have never made one of these UDS, so I am wondering why double barrels?.........I have never seen or read anything about doing that on any other thread, so thats why I am asking............

I thought it would be better insulated, and hold temp better on cold windy days. Plus with the other barrel it gave me more heighth, and the weber lid fit perfect.

Nice job!
Never saw that type barrel? What was in it?
One small problem, only saw two beers in the pics. You know a UDS can't be built using only two!

Then again, maybe thats why mine is not finished, oh well.

RW Willy, it took more then a couple of beers to make it. Here is the inner barrel that I used. The outer is a standard 55 gal.

I'm sure you are right on the button with the tep control, man! Sure could have used that puppy this weekend...40 MPH wings killed our team's chicken turn-in hopes. Nice job!

On Edit: Yes Des... make that 40 MPH WINDS, not wings...LOL. But I swear some of the Wings are goin' 40 these days!

I was wondering if you could stuff some high temp insulation in between the two barrels, like what they use in an oven? And weld them together of affix them somehow.
