Newb smoker here and just got a MES30. Seasoned it per instruction manual and everything went well until I added wood chips for last 45 minutes. I never saw smoke. I turned up temp to max for another 30 min and still no smoke. I could smell a very faint smoke smell and when opening door there was a small amount of smoke but not what I expected. After turning it off and letting it cool down the chips in the tray were slightly black but not all the way. Should I be concerned about this for the seasoning process?

My AMNPS should be here on Thursday but I want to smoke something tomorrow. Also have a Maverick ET-732 on the same order as the AMNPS.

BTW - I have enjoyed reading all the info on this forum.

Hello Karl.  That smoker is ready to go from what I read.  Remember this is low and slow so the smoke will penetrate the meat.  You want thin blue smoke which often can't be seen.  You don't want that thick white smoke like you just lit a grass fire.  Your AMNPS will probably improve your smoking but get some meat on that thing and don't forget the Qview.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!
