I found a nice deal on a used smoker. its a Brinkmann Smoke N Smoker. It has been used, but not much. I can get this for $15.00. I've read some posts on them and I had been looking for used ones for parts for my build. This one would buy me some time until I can get the build finished. Any thoughts?

Hey what's 15 bucks? Lunch for 2 at McDonalds will cost you that and the only thing you would have to show for it would be regret!
If it's in decent shape and you want it you should just do it! At least you will have something to show for it and you can smoke your own lunch!

Better than wasting a bunch of $ on something that you don't know anything about (like I have done).  Tinker around with it.

Good luck!

Well I picked up my cheap smoker. After going over the thing it basically needs cleaned and one rust spot on the door needs repaired. All the pans were in excellent shape and the grills weren't even rusted. I believe I'll put a vent in the top dome and get some expanded metal to make the charcoal pan hold more. A few mods to the the charcoal pan (vent holes) and maybe try to make the dome seal up a bit better and I should be in business. I've been check out post from other guys and I see what the had to do. I'll post any ideas I come up with.

I've been kind of busy since I got my ECB smoker so its been a while since I've posted anything. I'm doing some modifications to it such as adding vents to the top, nad I want to build up a charcoal basket to give me a longer burn time. I've seen some expanded metal ones and I found a piece of stainless expanded that I would like to use only i don't know if the holes are too small for good air flow. What do you guys think?

the small holes are better , since the coals will burn down before dropping into the ash so you get a longer burn , i have about the same size in mine.

and you can not beat the price of 15 bucks !!!

Good starter rig thats for sure no need to spend a ton of hard earned dollars t buy something you might not enjoy! But yes you should post some after photos and more importantly some Q-View!
