This is AWESOME and gives me some great ideas for my build. Thanks for sharing it!
very impressive!!! this forum has gone drum crazy!
The lid is from a Weber clone that Wal Mart sells. It sits on the edge of the drum rim. It's on the blog, pictures of both answers. Hope this helps.

Nice build job, sir! 550° eh? Wow... that might just come in handy. I don't think I could get my WSM to 400...well, without a fire in it!
that's what that long stick dial thermo said that I had poked thru a hole in the lid. It was a hot day and I had a good sized fan blowing on the patio which helped I'm sure. I didn't let it stay that hot very long. I wanted to cook the high temp paint ON, not back OFF.
Thanks, glad you like the build.
thats a real nice piece of work, thanks for showing all the build pictures
Looks like top quality workmanship. Nice the way you blogged it. I might try to find me a barrel and could only hope to have one as nice as yours.

after taking the time to read through your blog. i like the ari flow idea. seems that would be way less expensive that a brass ball valve. im burning out my barrel now. and will be reading over many uds pages to get the idea for what i want.
Great job Jerry. Nice design. Looks well thought out. You will inspire some here and cause others to say Oh Crap why didn't i do that. Congrats. Bubba don't steal any ideas.LOLOLOL
