Oh i love it....one thing i did though was added some expanded steel to the bottom to catch some of the smaller pieces of charcoal. The (nest) is what they call it and it rests in U-Bolts.FWIsmoker, how do like the basket that came in the kit?
Dude i wish i could find one...worst case is that i have a masterbuilt kettle that i have i'll piece out. If you do your lid right you won't need a kettle lid to be functional. Mine will only be used for if i need two levels or if am doing big turkeys.Where are you guys finding the dome lids? Cheapest 22.5 grill I have found is 60 bucks at walmart.
right below the rim should work. Measure it to make sure. or sit the lid on it, that should let you know if removing the lid will be right.Lol The one I found is a masterbuilt. I am going to cut the lid off right below the rim. Sound right?
or use a ginder with a cut off blade.Farmer i sure hope so....it looks like that's where that UK drum was cut and like other ones that i've seen. You might want to check with someone that has cut one off, i know that i've seen them in threads on the forum here. On the other hand if you do it carefully it'll probably work.
What kind of saw would you use? I know folks that don't re-use the lids will grind off the lid but if it's being cut off and re-used then a jig saw with a metal blade seems appropriate.
Those are pretty hard to handle...to keep good control with all the bouncing around i'd have someone keep pressure on the top of the lid while you cut....just an idea.I plan on using a recropiating saw.
that should work great. lay it down. go slow, and use the rim for a guide.I plan on using a recropiating saw.
my yankee friend. that is Ark-n-sawHey David i don't need any lids from Ar-Kansas...lol,
Send me a lid then FRIEND. LOLright below the rim should work. Measure it to make sure. or sit the lid on it, that should let you know if removing the lid will be right.
Now to the lids. Check craigslist for a 22.5 kettle. i have a wanted add running on craigslist wanting to buy a 22.5 kettle in bad condition. I buy 1 every few weeks for my friends. you also get the grates that way. then remember yard sales.
Don't tell FWI or he will be running a craigslist add in my area.
Happy smoken.
David
