I think you should trash all the climate change data so you can never prove that it even remotely caused this disaster or any of the hurricanes. Much better deciding on local lore.

Sorry, had to be said!

As the crow flies I'm about 80 miles away from the fires to the southwest (Napa, Sonoma, Santa Rosa), 30 miles away from the nearest fires to the north . My truck is covered in ash. The sky is orange, but there's no smell. A buddy of mine is associated with Cal Fire Aviation out at McClellan Air Park (MAP). In addition to all the other fire tankers, they're flying a 747 fire tanker that carries 20,000 gallons of fire suppressant. He's one busy dude right now.

My wife is on a trip this week to Concord, which is about 40 miles away from the fires to the southwest. She says the air is so bad in Concord she was going to stay inside as much as possible.

I'm going to wish very bad things on someone if the fires turn out to be arson. Given the history in this state, there's a good chance arson was involved.

Been watching this on the news, very said to see all that destruction.Be safe out there guys

Seems to be a BAD year everywhere. Stay safe people!!
I spent the summer working in the mountains between BC and Alberta. The smoke from the fires in BC was so bad that health authorities were warning that being outside all day was equivalent to smoking 2 packs if cigarettes. Add that to the 2 packs I actually smoke and........

The sky yesterday was crazy smokey, not from my smoker either. Have lots of friends up in the north bay who have been evacuated. Pray for those who get affected by these fires.

Yep, I'm evacuated too. I went back yesterday for a few more things and it was 1/2 mile from my house. I have my family and most important things with me so I feel lucky.

Spares and Babybacks were both on sale a few weeks ago so I'm interested to see what happens with the man-fridge. Got 6 bb in there and 4 huge spares. If she burns...you all are going to get some pics!

Praying for your home and the safety of everyone. BBs are always better on your WSM, because Mother Nature is one lousy cook.

Hey thanks man. I appreciate that.

They stopped the fire before it hit the Town of Sonoma, where I live. It basically ate the mountains between us and Napa and some neighborhoods in Santa Rosa and the surrounding upscale communities.

I came up Highway 12 today for the first time since the fire and it was pretty weird. Military still here...phone lines all melted, chimneys standing solitary. Couldn't get pics but I'll see if I can snap some on my way home.

Our biggest concern was the affect the smoke might have on our 1 month old, so we evacuated for a full 2 weeks until it cleared.

A funny thing happened during all that. The day after we left I went back by myself because it looked like we were going to lose it all and hadn't really taken much. I got through the thick smoke and found my way in...then when I was in my house looking at all my stuff and trying to figure out what to save, I realized I already had by moving my family. I officially don't care about my belongings and I have nothing centimental.

Normonster, so glad to hear you, your family, and your house are all okay. That was a moving statement about your belongings, and oh so true.

BTW, don't let the police see your forum title below your username and avatar. They might get the wrong idea!

Cheers!

Glad you're safe! I grew up in Napa and many of the areas burned were my playground. Even more of it was my playground as an adult. It's a tragedy but it will grow back and people will rebuild. Sadly, that can't be said for those who perished.
