Hi All,

I have had various vegetable gardens over the years, but due to ease of use we have only grown tomatoes in large pots the last couple of years.

The tomato plants in the gray pots are the Mountain Spring and the green pots are the Sweet Baby Girl tomatoes. The sweet baby girls are already outgrowing the hoops so I'm not sure how I am going to tie them up? Anyone have ideas?

Next year I'm adding grape tomatoes and another large tomato as well.

I also have a small patch of vegetables but there isn't much there to take pictures of.

I had an above ground pool in my backyard for years. I am in the process of cleaning up that spot where we had it as we took the pool down. That will be my new garden for next year. It will be about 25' x 25' which will be like having 40 acres to me!

I think that's what I got.... the big ones.... I think I paid 1.99 / 100 and about $5 shipping I have seen them for $1.29 / each on e-bay or somewhere..... check around for the best price.... they are made in Israel and they were $1 / hundred plus shipping.... I didn't check on the shipping fees....

I use Amazon Smile for most of my purchases as it donates a small portion of the profits to my favorite charity. They were inexpensive enough for 100 of them. Thanks for that heads up on those. Forgot to add, I will swing by the True value next week and get some twine and tie them off to the stockade fence as after reading closely the cherry tomato plants grow to 6 feet plus and the stockade in only a 5 footer. I'm probably going to have to let them run along the top of the fence

Those look like winners to me! I'm looking at these via the browser on my android. Help me out a little. What sort of wood and how did you fasten them at the top?

I bought this place and it had a horse barn.... I tore everything apart and saved lumber.... they are ripped 1/2 2x6's.... made a triangular block using my chop saw.... cut the block at about 4-5 degree angle or heck I can't remember... only a couple weeks ago.... drilled holes in the uprights and block so it wouldn't split and put in a 3" decking screw.... drilled the uprights to add string to tie them to the totes the veggies are in .... now they don't blow over.... drilled a hole near the top of the upright to put the twine through so the tomatoes would be climbing in the middle..... don't have a pic of that.... that hole is about 2" below the triangular block.... You could go with 2x2x8' would work....

This is getting too complicated........ click on pics to enlarge......

I'm still pounding my head against the wall, way to simple!!!!

Thanks Dave, not too complicated at all

That might wind up being a winter project (or next spring project for me.)

I was out of town for a couple of days and when I got home my plants were a bit wilted. I have a hose end drip system from a couple of years ago so I hooked that up.
Gotta run to the store and get a few odds and ends but I will have this baby running this afternoon. Still waiting on the the tie up hoops, but they should be here soon. Gonna tie them off to the stockade fence this year, but building the tri-pods for next year!

I buy the clips by the case we use them for tomatoes on a string. Training cucumbers up netting. We also buy round fiberglass stakes and use the clips to attach things like pepper plants to the stake.

looking like a pro......

Thanks for your help, it really helped me get going this going. I like doing things the right way, but sometimes it's hard to figure out what that is. That's why I love SMF, so many good folks willing to help out and share.

Heck I was so inspired I even planted green peppers, banana peppers, basil and spear mint this year. My wife loves mint and I can remember picking wild mint for my grandmother out on her farm in southern Indiana. Every time I get a little taste it takes me back 40 years!

The tomato plants already have about 200 tomatoes on them so we will be thinking of all new recipes this year, LOL

I forgot to include a picture of my basil and pepper plants. I also have a row of radishes, which are just coming up, but the picture is old.

That strip is about 10' x 2' and it's a pretty tight squeeze. I'm building a bigger garden in the backyard for next year after getting rid of a 24 foot above ground swimming pool!
