      Hi  everyone

I live in Central Oklahoma, I have been smoking meat for several years. I built my first smoker from a 5' water softener tank, and it was about as big around as 3ft. I laid it on it's side and welded pieces of pipe for legs, and cut 2 doors in it. I built a fire in one end and a meat rack on the other end. I used it for about 30 years until it rusted out and I had to buy another smoker it is an offset. I have not had much of a chance to use the offset. My wife bought me an electric smoker for last Christmas, and I have used it  the last few times I have smoked meat. A friend is in the process of building a bigger off set smoker for me.

I am retired, and live on a 5 acre piece of ground. I haven' had many chances of getting out and doing stuff on the land, because of health problems. I love to smoke meat and most of the time it tastes very good (not bragging just stating a fact) lol. I have a son and a daughter and 2 grandsons that I am very proud of. My last birthday I turned 71. As soon as I get my health back I plan of doing a lot of smoking, And trying out a lot of new recipes of rubs, brine, and different seasonings. My other hobbies are making saugages, and home made hard apple cider.

Have a good day

Welcome from SC, Mtnman. It's good to have you here on this great site. I hope you get better soon, so you can get out more and cook more. Us 71's gotta stick together.

Good luck and good smokin', Joe

I would like to thank each and every one for the welcome. I would also like for every one to know that even though I have been smoking meat for years, there so many thing I do not know about smoking meat.
About the only types of meat that I have smoked is spare ribs, brisket, and turkey. For example up until a couple of months ago I did not even know to pull the membrane off of ribs. So as you  see I still do not know a lot a lot about smoking meat, therefore I am interested in learning every thing I can.

Have a good day
