  1. Picked it up yesterday at big R's for $180. Got it seasoned last night and had a breakfast fattie this morning with it. Seems to be really nice, Im hoping I dont have any issues with that electric digital control

Congrats, I have had MES's for 4 or 5 years now (upgraded from the original mdel styles), have a 30" and 40" right now; good electric smokers for the price.

  5. Yeah I am currently working on that! So far so good, but much more delicious things will be sure to come out of it.

Enjoy your new smoker. I really love the ease of use with the MES. I'd done quite a few smokes in it since last Dec. Have fun!

  9. I hope you get many, many years of use out of it! I have had my MES SS Sam's model for several years, and love it!

Was thinking the other day (danger Will Robinson) that I haven't used my offset for... well since I have had the MES... that will change this summer. Today I am doing up to buckboards and three racks of ribs, of course in the MES!

Enjoy your adventure in fine tuning and your new adventure in the MES, and obtaining your techniques into the TBS!

Congratulations on your new smoker. Doing a fatty first is a good way to test it out.

I put foil in the water pan and in the drip pan on the bottom, it helps a lot with clean up. Also you may want to check the actual temp of the MES compared to what the digital readout says... mine runs 25-30 degrees hotter than what it says it does.

I do what Reichl suggest. Foil makes clean up a bit easier. Foil the water pan and drip pan at the bottom. I also find my 30" MES runs a little hotter but it varies with the cycling of the heater. When it's on it runs about 25* hotter and when off it runs a bit lower than the read out. It all averages out in the end.

  16. Thanks guys I was looking it over thinking of ideas for smokes this weekend and I thought I should cover the drip pan and bottom tray with foil so I did. Then saw you guys posted it on here, so I hope I can stay with the learning curve here.

Oh my face were definitely looking like this [IMG] now all I can think about it what im going to do next that will taste just as awesome.
