I was surprised it came out tasty  , very juicy  ( I didn't foil ) and I was a little disappointed (no nice pink smoke ring)

it had a great smoky flavor  the rub was very good ( sweet, spicy and a slight kick )

I didn't get a nice crusty bark , which I was disappointed by  the rub was kinda crusty , not hard ??

    any idea why ?

Al - in -all a nice first time ...didn't ruin a good hunk of meat ...tasted good , juicy and people ate it all   next time I hoping for a harder bark and a pink smokey Ring

THANKS to all for yer tips

    Your brisket looks very good!

You won't get a smoke ring with an electric smoker.

Just remember the smoke ring does not affect the taste, it just looks cool.

You may want to put more sugar in the rub, it will help form a thicker bark.

Looks good man!  I have the same issue on getting the pretty smoke ring  and crusty bark.  I think the next time I cook one I am going to crank the heat up to around 300 and see if that gives me the ring and crust.  I have always been a fan of the low and slow and the lower the better but I am going to crank it up next time to see what happens.  Great job on your first brisket and look forward to seeing more.
