Hello everyone,

Well I just finished my first smoking adventure yesterday. My wife surprised me with a new (our first) smoker. It is a Masterbuilt 30" electric...nothing fancy. I really relied on a buddy to get me started cuz I don't know much about this. Anyway I did some country pork ribs both rubbed and unrubbed. Came out OK but still have to figure out when to add chips, how much and what is the best wood to use. I look forward to tapping into all the expertise that is out here.

Hello,

I am also new to this smoking adventure also , but talking with some guys who have been doing it for some time they are telling me to use any fruit wood like apple, cherry etc.

What a woman.....nice gift. So, now starts your research using the handy dandy search bar for detailed info on whatever you want to smoke. Many here get great results using an Amazing Smoker tube or pellet smoker that fits very well in the MES providing hours of uninterrupted smoke making your life much easier. As in any hobby/obsession there are gadgets needed. So, enjoy the new toy and get the camera handy to post up some pics here or you'll get replies such as.....

Welcome to the forum. I'm a fellow MES 30 smoker. Love my little smoker, but they can be a little quirky! Def check out the MES group and AMZN links given by Tropics. They will help alot. Happy smokin', David.
