Today I picked up my first smoker! It's a Smoke Hollow 34" LP... After setting it up, I seasoned it, sadly I ran out of time to do some smoking today, so its on for tomorrow. But I figure I would post some picks of my setup and setup process...

I cant wait for tomorrow!

Awesome - looks great.

Looks very similar to the GOSM I just put together.

Oh - the temp gauge on my door is way off (reads about 50 degrees high) - which apparently is the norm for these things - Get an extra thermometer to put inside the smoker so you'll really know your temps (I hung one from the topmost grate)

Thanks for the reply, It was a toss up between the one you have and the one I bought. Gander Mtn was closer than Bass Pro.. so I got the SH.

Congrats on your new smoker, brings back memories of when I assembled my GOSM big block. Be sure and check the calibration on your door therm before smoking, against a rack temp. You didn't get to smoke today... but then's there's forever. it's all good my friend.

Niiiiceeee.

I have a Smoke Hollow as well (smaller version..the 30") and love it. In fact today I smoked my 1st batch of babyback ribs and a chicken. Man, turned out a yummy.

Temps stayed about 250 in the smoker with the damper fully open. Not sure how I can lower it from there. Worked well though.

My only issue is my wood pan is really small. Great for chips, not so good for chunks. Might have to find a cast iron substitute somewhere.

Have fun smokin'!

Congrats on the new smoker

Great choice on a smoker. You'll have a good time and lots of great smokes with it! Best o'luck and we'll all be expecting some Q View!

And remember....two tanks, two tanks, two tanks.......

Cheers!

Congrats on the new smoker! Look forward to seeing it's maiden voyage.

Nice photos, it's real helpful and informative.
Looks a lot like my older model Perfect Flames except for the shelf-holding brackets.

Could be the camera or lighting, but your flame looks a little uneven and too orange.
If I remember correctly, one cause of that is a lack of air in the mix. The venturi could be partially closed or the orifice might not be lined up right.

Thanks for all the comments, I have a spare tank in the garage, and one on my grill. So I can swap if needed. I think I want to install a needle valve on it to control the fire a little better. Someone mentioned throttling the gas control knob between Off & High, this really seemed to make a difference. Prior to that I really couldn't get the temp below 250. With this method I got it down to almost 200 on the door thermometer.

I did shoot an email about this to the Smoke Hollow company, as many others have.

Thanks again for the advice!
