I had my first smoking experience today and boy was I nervous but at the end everything went perfect and I can't wait to smoke again
I used hickory wood chips but I think next time I'm going to try maple or apple. I just figured I would share. Doesn't look like much but OMG delicious

Congratulations! And my regrets, see now you have been hooked, you are a smoke junkie! Its a nice addiction though, its legal, and some of the best folks have it. No matter where you go, there will always be one in the crowd. If you can't tell them by the smell, you notice them looking strangely at the food like trying to figure out how much smoke it could take.

This is a great place, nice folks, helpful Gurus, a wealth of knowledge in that search engine. I will make a suggestion though. Get a notebook, a flash drive, a recipe cardex, something you can keep and start keeping track of your smokes. Its how you know what you did last time and how it affected the food, and notes to what you'd like to try the next time. Until you are a Guru its mighty handee!

Each one only gets better! Welcome to my addiction!

If you find yourself short on paper, use the voice notes on your smartphone and transcribe later.    Just make sure you do a good job dictating what you did....there are a couple of cooks I can't figure out what I tried to tell myself :)

:yeahthat: And you can always start a thread and ask any specific questions about what to do or what not to do. Let us know what kind of smoker you have and any other details that might help.

Very good advice from Foam. He hit the nail on the head. You can make your smoking experiences as simple or complex as you like. Take your time and learn your smoker and most of all enjoy.
