So I really wanted to do some ribs and try out the smoker again after adding the simple mods. I did sausage first o see if it would hold temp and they are very very quick and easy( esp. iff all hell breaks loose and need to grill'm). That went well so next was tha ribs. I also wanted to try/practice removing the membrane. I couldn;t get it off these ribs for the life of me. I mean it just absolutely wouln't even lift with the spoon handle. I didn't get all the shots but hey, it's my first qview [IMG]

I rubbed them in paprika, onion powder, brown sugar and cumin a simple rub. and set overnight in the fridge.

Using the 2-2-1 method, here are the final results.

    and they were good!

I use a table knife and work the membrane edge in the middle of the rack. Once I get it a little loose I then wiggle my finger under it till I get to the other side. the just lift. There is a video in the pork section a while ago showing this and it has worked well for me the last few times I smoked ribs

This guy does it quite well. Check out the fact that he is wearing gloves & uses a paper towel. The towel really helps for gripping the membrane. I know you said you had problems getting the spoon handle under the membrane but trust me when I tell you: You want to try to accomplish this act as those ribs will taste so wonderful after you smoke them. If a spoon does not work, use a fork. Also, you want to smoke them bone side down & that membrane interfere's with the smoke transfer process. I hope this helps you for your next run. Good looking ribs BTW.

If it weren't for that video I would never have known to take the membrane off. I watched it prior to smoking and also yesterday when I had issues. The dang thing would just not peel off. Ah well, it will just take more practice and another excuse to buy ans smoke ribs.
