My First Pork Butt & Ribs on my new Oklahoma Joe

My Oklahoma Joe Longhorn was delivered on Thursday, did my mods and burmns and then I started my first food smoke yesterday. I decided to try a all nighter Pork Butt first and then move to ribs. 

Things are going well and I love it! This is a great smoker.I used a mix of sticks and chunks and Stubbs.  I think it is turning out pretty good although I have not tasted any of it yet.

I just put the ribs on for a 3-2-1 try and I went ahead and foiled the butt because it is 185 deg but is falling apart already. I think I am liking this a BUNCH!

If it tastes as good as it looks you are going to enjoy it!  Let us know how it turned out.  Where did you order your smoker from?  Also what made you chose this particular one?  I am using an old hand me down smoker and am saving to upgrade one day...

Looking good. I have the same smoker. I drilled a 3/16" hole in the body of the smoker then slotted it under the door to run my wires through.

We had the best dinner ever! It was a HUGE success. 

I did a lot of research and just wanted a real Pro style BBQ smoker. I didn't want a pellet smoker, already had an electric one, and don't care for the bullets.  When I researched the offset smokers I found there were three categories: a) the under $200 lite weight models; b) the $1000+ more than I need smokers; and c) the Okie Joe. The Okie Joe ($400) is heavy metal (300 lbs) and with a few easy mods can do anything the expensive ones can. I bought it from Lowes because they assemble and deliver it for free. They did an excellent job. I am totally pleased with it and I am sure it will exceed my expectations.
