I don't know if anyone on here has had this problem.
I started noticing on the rear of my Auber WS 1500
that the heating plug was starting to heat up.
It kept getting worse, the plug was hot enough to burn you.
I at first attributed this to it just being a high amperage draw
heating element.
This continued on until I finally came to the realization that this
unit was going to burn up at some point.
The unit was losing efficiency and couldn't maintain the temp
in the smoker.
Time to do something.
So I emailed Auber and explained the problem.
Within a couple of hours I received an email back from a nice person
by the name of Suyi.
What this person told me essentially was that they used an El Cheapo
(my words not theirs) female plug on the unit.
I was told that the contacts were unlike a normal female plug in
that it only had contacts on the inside center of the plug.
They said I should make sure the legs on the male plug were
bent at least a little bit inward, which I did.
Tried it, that didn't help at all.
I wanted to smoke things now and not be sending my controller
out somewhere for a long time.
UNPLUG EVERYTHING BEFORE DOING ANY OF THIS.
So I took a piece of emery cloth cleaned up the male plug
then I folded the emery cloth over until I had four thicknesses,
in a width that would fit into the female plug.
I ran that back and forth in there a few times, plugged everything back in
That fixed it, no problems since.
So if your noticing that plug heating up abnormally, give this a try.
Hope this helps someone out.
