Was just washing one of the grates and noticed that the chrome is peeling already. Have used it less than a dozen times...really hope I am not on hold for an hour again. Cell phone is plugged in and charging....just in case. Think I may send the grate to a friend that powder coats.....

I washed my grates once in the dishwasher. Once. It was a hassle taking out the top rack (it was an older dishwasher) but there was no peeling of the chrome or whatever the grates are coated with. I strictly handwash them with a scrub sponge and hot soap and water. My MES 30 Gen 1 is three years old and everything's still in fine shape. But then I don't use it nearly as much as many other guys here.

Our racks are done by the dishwasher every time, her name is Ernie lol...

You will be cooking on the mats.
I understand that but don't really want to have rust near anything I am cooking.....this is sorta like saying no point in cleaning the racks.....you are cooking on the mats.....just saying,..,..

I understand. I have some rust on my racks but it doesnt bother me.

I use Todd's mats and the work great. They reduce the amount of stuck food by 100% but they still need to be cleaned. Silicone cleans very easy.

The racks are covered in drippings and smoke. I like to get as much off as I reasonably can.Since I started using the mats cleanup is a lot easier.  Jted
