Well... I live in Rockledge, FL which is the city that borders Melbourne to the North. On Monday I purchased a Pork shoulder because it was on sale. I knew the storm was going to make some kind of pass on us, but I wasn't thinking that it was going to be this bad. After seeing the track on Tuesday, I went ahead and injected her with some Cuban Mojo, Rubbed her down with a conglomeration of spicy rubs and put her in the fridge to rest overnight. Well after almost 20" of rain (luckily my neighborhood drains very well) and 2 days later I said to heck with the storm, this Butt needs to be cooked. So about an hour ago there was a BREAK in the weather so I wheeled the smoker out of the garage and fired her up with 5 briquettes of match light (to get the kindling going) and got her up to temp and was happy with the some output.

About that time, back came the rain, back came the wind, and I was determined to get this Butt cooked.

I know is wasn't during the height of all the wind and rain, but I still think this may deserve the Bad@$$ Smoke Of The Week (BASOTW) award.

For you northerners, maybe you can win come January with a picture of a path dug out through the snow from the door to the smoker (Note: snow has to be as high as the smoker to count). Those of you on the West coast of the U.S. maybe a picture/video of you smoking during an earthquake would quality. Those in the heartland, smoking during a tornado would qualify, etc, etc, etc.

Here is a couple pictures. You can't make out the rain too much, but the Palm tree blowing is preety obvious. The black Chevy 2500HD 4x4 to the right of the grill helps in the BASOTW.

Way to get er done

Naw, you need some flooding waters in the shot. That looks pretty much like all of north Florida right now.
Can you do us a favor and go to your photobucket upload area and find the blue colored OPTIONS link. Select 800 x 600 or smaller for photo uploads. This will keep members from having to scroll right to view all your photos and read the text.
Glad you didn't get flooded out. It is quite a mess in Melbourne.

Glad to hear that your area stayed away from the flooding.

I'll give you props for smoking in the rain and wind, and if you show a photo of you chasing the smoker down the street while you're tending to the smoker, I'd be really impressed.

Just kidding, I'm glad that you've found the time to fire up your smoker, being the weather the way it's been. Really looking forward to the final smoke and some Qview.

WOW!! that looks great! Nice bark formation, yeah, I'm impressed. Keep the Qview coming.

EDIT: I see you're almost at 4 hours smoking, hope you have some hurricane beer ready for the stall; man that looks like a nice butt in the making.

You going to foil it, or let her go naked to temp?

Well I didn't eat it until this evening but here is a picture of the spread. One of the best Pulled Pork Sammies I've ever had. Bupmt didn't finish until this morning around 8AM and the wife wakes up, comes out into the family room where I was sleeping and asks " Why does the house smell like meat?" I finished it in the oven.

The new thermometer worked great.

Here is a picture of the meal for tonight.
Note: we don't have a problem finding the remote control around here.

Yeah,

Wife isn't a huge fan of meat, so I have about 5 lbs of pulled pork.

Tried a new sauce this evening that I really like.

Cunningham's Memphis Semi Sweet sauce.

A little tanginess to it and not too sweet.

I don't know about that.

With a 496 Cubic Inch 8.1L Engine and an Allison Transmission, The only way I'll have a picture of one of those is if I am pulling them out of the mud.
