My name is Darrin, I am a Montana native who loves smoking meat. I am by no means an expert but love it anyway. I spend a lot of time fishing for walleye in the summer, chasing elk in the fall with my bow, and spending all winter wishing it was summer or fall. My first smoker was a small electric and I have been using a Traeger for a few years now. I am working on a new project lately that involves an old 120 gallon propane tank being converted to a vertical smoker. I am new to welding and figured it would be a great way to get lots of practice! I would be glad to post pics if anyone wants to see the progress. I will picking your brains on some ideas I have!

Welcome from SC, Darrin. It's really good to have you here on this great site. It looks like you have a great project started. By all means, please post some pics as you go along.

Good luck with the new smoker.
