New to the forum and fairly new to bbq. Started out on a brinkman smoke-and-go. Learned quickly that there must be an easier smoker out there, bought a weber smokey mountain18.5 and havent looked back since. One brisket and currently smoking my second shoulder. Tried few recipes on bbq sauce and according to my wife "we need to buy store bought." Could use pointers in that area. Thanks for all the welcomes.

Welcome to SMF!

Glad to have you aboard!

A good place to start with your BBQ sauce is Jeff's.

It's a good recipe & can be easily tweaked to suit your taste.

Also part of the proceeds go to help keep this site running!

Good evening and welcome to the forum, from a cool, cloudy day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web. Lots of                great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Welcome to the forms!
In addition to the good advice you'll get from everyone on the forms, you have got a jump on things with your 181/2" WSM.
A 28 time grand champion uses nothing but going up against those $15000 pull behind your Mac truck rigs.
I have the 221/2" with the IQ 130 so I can set it, forget it and monitor it on my iPhone, but I use my MES 40" way more because it's way less hassle and I can monitor on my iPhone with that one as well.
Big hunks of meat like butts and brisket always start out on my WSM for the smoke and charcoal flavor.
For sauce Al is right about Jeff's sauce and the ribs as simple as they are, are second to none I use his original rub on just about everything it's very good and low on salt. If you want a really good free sauce go to the search window and type in Billbo's sauce it is also really good.
