Hey y'all, I've been considering using the mention method on a 18.5" kettle grill. The only thing is, all the videos, and other online articles are using a 22.5" grill.
I guess I'm just wondering if there are any good videos of someone using a 18.5" grill?
I just don't know how long I could potentially smoke something before I had to add fuel.
Thanks guys
Josh.

It will be the same way as they do on the 22.5 ... just make a big pile on one side with the wood chunks mixed throughout ... light about 6-10 briquettes in a chimney.. only let them go until half way lit... not screaming red hot as that will be to hot when you put them in the grill.... dump them in at one end of the pile and let it come up to temps with all vents wide open... at about 25` before your desired temps start closing down the intake vent (between 1/4 to 1/2 open) .. it's much easier to bring temps UP.. instead of starting out to hot and try to bring them down... should get 6+ hrs out of first load...

How long are you planning on cooking ?? To add you just take grate and meat off and set to the side... dump in more unlit coals and replace the grate... will take a little bit for it to come back up to temp...

I think it depends on how much smoke you want. If you are setting up for indirect I always like using hardwood as a boarder. It should make a lighter, slower TBS you want. When you mix the chunks in they burn faster and you'll probably get a full flame that'll burn out the wood faster, less control over The smoke too. Also purchasing a grate that allows you to lift up sides is worth it! Good luck! Take some pics!

I have a 22" and 18"...for the 22 i do half a chimney full of lit coal, for the 18" i only do about a quarter. All the rest is the same...fill up the basket and put wood chucks around the outside and in the middle
