Hello from Michigan.
I'm new to smoking. I love to cook and perfect certain types of food. I decided to take up smoking because in Michigan we only have a couple of good true BBQ joints.
For smoking, I settled on a propane vertical smoker, a smoke hollow due to a friends recommendation. I am a pretty active guy and didn't want to spend the day tending to the smoker, so a charcoal or wood fired smoker was definitely not in the cards. Reviews on electric smokers all seemed to have the same complaint about the heating coils burning out prematurely. So a propane seemed the way to go.
I have a couple of smokes under my belt, so I'm definitely in the "still figuring everything out" category. I'm hoping by summer that I'm at the point of fine tuning, so that I can amaze dinner guests with some unbelieveably good true BBQ.
