Cabelas has the mes40 on sale right now for 350. Is that a good price? I have a Bradley and I'm looking to upgrade

I posted this yesterday but it got covered up that Masterbuilt has over 200 units of the Generation I 40 inch smoker and they are on sale for $200.00 plus shipping. They are units that were returned from the QVC shopping channel and were completely refurbished as per the customer service rep that I spoke with yesterday. I orderd one and even with the shipping I am saving almost $70.00. compared to the sales price at our local Sam`s Club. I should have it this Friday and will post my findings on Monday. THe person I spoke with was Hayley, and her direct number is 706-256-3943. This model has the vent on the top and works much better with the AMAZEN Products that I use.
Good Luck

Upgrade from a Bradley to a MES?? Am I missing something here? While not a puck user I've noticed many here with them and they look to be a pretty sound unit producing good results. IMHO, going to a MES would be a serious downgrade....especially to a new generation MES. I might offer you use the search bar for MES info and the problems they are experiencing now. I'd put that cash toward a Yoder or Rec Tec....now, to me, that would be an upgrade. Here's a good place to start with numerous pages of input.

Again, this is just my opinion and I've never owned one but came close until I saw it at Home Depot out on display and thought what a cheezy unit it was for the money......HTH, Willie

Sorry to disagree but the Gen 1 MES works very well and considering one of the biggest Bradley advocates around here, dumped the Puck eater for an AMNPS and had to add an Auber PID to dial in the temp. No way that beats an MES. There is good and bad with any Chinese Smoker. You want flawless, get a Cook Shack for a Grand Plus...JJ

BTW...The most popular 1st Gen MES40 is  model # 20070311 all Stainless Steel w/ Remote.

Thanks for the help. I really like my Bradley but I don't like how long it takes to heat up. Even the price for the pucks I don't mind

I'd agree with this....Gen 1 MES was/is far superior to Gen 2 from what posters have added here. I'm the proud owner (yet to be seen, actually) of a Chinese made Char Griller pellet muncher and SO FAR (fingers crossed) no immediate problems noticed. I was very concerned about reading how the PC brain gave many fits right out of the box. Got the unit at Lowes and even popped for the extended warranty for 3 years in case the chip takes a dump.....about the same price as the MES....Willie

The model i received Friday from the company that was on sale was the above mentioned unit that is all Stainless Steel sides and comes with a remote. My first smoke was four Salamis and the unit combined with my AMNPS worked great. The temperature stayed within 2 to 5 degrees from 130 degrees up to 170 degrees. The remote worked inside my house but lost signal a few times. The unit came in excellent condition and I hope it continues to perform as well as the first time. If I can figure out how to post the pictures i took I will do it.

Amazon has the  Masterbuilt Model 20070512 40-Inch Front Controller Smoker with Viewing Window and RF RemoteControl,

priced at 299 with free shipping. I visited the Masterbuilt site and do not see any models on sale and am wondering if this is the best price around at the moment? Am guessing this is the same smoker Cabelas is selling on sale for $349.
