I just got my first smoker. My question is what generation is this? After reading different forums they say the gen2 has a lot of problems. If this is a gen 2 what can I do to make it last longer, if anything. (Below is a link to my exact smoker)

Also this website is great and is going to be a great tool for me as I am brand new at this.

Thanks for the help in advance

Vent on top left side?    A Gen 2 with a vent on top?   Looks like a fun toy.

That looks like a Gen #2.

Try it the way it is, but if the right side is a lot hotter than the left side, remove the slanted drip plate & baby water pan.

Then put the bottom rack in & set a disposable foil pan on that rack. Leave room around that pan for air flow.

Try that.

Before long, You will also want to get an AMNPS, and a set of Wireless Digital Therms, like a Maverick ET-732.

With the Remote Control it shows plus the vent on top, it is definitely the most latest and improved  version of the 2.0 that was made at the same time the BT's were beginning to come out. Unlike the 2.0's with the vent on the side made before it, all parts on this particular 2.0 are replaceable just like the ones on the new BT's are. About the only differences between this 2.0 Smoker and the 2.5 Smoker is the water pan set up and the 2.0 having a remote and the 2.5 not having a remote.

Thanks guys!!! I did a chicken the first day I got it, it was good just needed a little more flavor but I'm sure it will come with experience.

I'm in the middle of a butt right now for the in-laws (Guinea pigs). It should be ready around 3:30. I'm pretty excited about this.

Thanks again for the guidance!!!
