Hey folks,
I've had a MES for four years now, and I've been very happy with my unit. A couple of weeks ago, during an overnight smoke on some pork butts, it decided to die on me. The digital display was still on, but instead of keeping the unit at 225, it was reading 78 or so. I just assumed the heating element died.
I wasn't too upset by this. I've used this particular unit a lot over four years.
Anyway, I ordered up another MES from Cabelas. I received it earlier this week, and just threw some pecan wood in it to smoke some Cornish game hens. However, same problem...the unit is not heating at all. It just sits there and reads 81-82. The heating element is not hot at all.
Cabelas will exchange this unit for a new one, but is there anything I can do to fix this unit to save myself the hassle of sending it back? Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Greg
