I saw somewhere on a forum someone grafted a bradley smokebox to a MES40, I have a Bradley and to be quite frank I'm spoiled with the smoking part of it. If anyone can direct me to this thread I would be grateful. Anyone heard of the timeframe for the release of the Amaze-n-Smoker retool for hot smoking, I know he has a few people testing them as we speak, thanks in advance.

Hmmm,

No offense, but in my opinion, the only good thing about a Bradley is the smoke box, because it is making smoke without heating the smoker much.

But one of the bad things about the Bradley is also the smoke box, because it costs about $1.20 per hour to produce that smoke.

That means that Brisket I just made would have cost me about $10 just for the smoke I used.

If someone grafted a Bradley Smokebox to an MES 40, it must have been before the invention of the A-MAZE-N-SMOKER, so if it's on this forum, check the threads from before April of 2010.

Hope that helps,

Bear

Thanks for the link, I live in western NC near the Smokies. Strange place here, people in WNC like tomato based sauces, go 150-200 miles east and it's all vinager based sauces. I like my bradley (wouldn't think using one without a PID) but it isn't built well I just has to have a new door shipped but it works well for what it's intended use. Been looking at the MES40 but the smoking part turns me off I don't want to check the chips every 1/2 hour, I load the bradley up for 4 Hrs of smoke on butts and forget about for that time. Yes the Bradley pucks are expensive but if you wanna play you gotta pay. Jumping from 500 watts to 1200 would be nice.

If'n you wanta play, you don't have to pay $1.20 per hour.

Check out an A-MAZE-N-SMOKER. Going by your comments, I know you'd love it.

Depending on which one you get, and how heavy you want the smoke, you can get up to 12 hours of steady consistent smoke---no touchy feely involved.

Goes great with that 1200 watt MES 40 you mentioned.

Hiram,

Why don't you just use your Bradley "As Is"?

I just PM'd you

Why not just use the bradley? I like the convenience of loading the pucks for a smoke and walking away till the smoke's off. The Bradley is fragile (I'm on my second door) although well insulated. The MES40 would give me more space, the 500watt Bradley versus the 1200 watt makes the MES a plus both for cooking and recovery times. I guess you could say I want the best of both worlds, the mod to the MES would definitely void the warranty so I would have to out of pocket for any repairs on the MES down the road but I'm getting used to the idea the more I walk by them at Sam's.
