I have a new MES 40 and a Maverick ET73.

Where should I place the BBQ probe for the best reading of the boxes temperature?

Assuming it normally is hotter at the bottom and cooler up top, I position mine about 2/3rd of the way up along the side.

I keep mine a little over an inch away from what I'm smoking so I know what the temp is by the food. It would be a good idea to move your probe all over & see where the hot & cold spots are - then you will have a good idea of what's going on when you're smoking multiple things
