I have read the different threads on the MES 30 and heating problems but I can not find my answer.

My MES 30 decided it does not want to heat up all the way. My MES has an access panel for the heater. I took that off and I see about 17 ohms on the heater. The voltage to the heater seems to go on for a while then shot off when it starts to get warm. Then it will go back on again later. The "Heater" light on the controller stays on even when there is no voltage to heated.

Is there some thermal sensor in the system that could be causing this, or anywhere else I should look?

Anywhere other then Masterbuilt to get the controller? Of course this happens on the weekend so I can not call until Monday.

Could be a "thermal break" where it self disconnects when it gets warm...   pull the connectors off of the heating element and clean them..  then reconnect and check your problem...   the connectors are notoriously bad on MES stuff...    You can replace the connectors and even solder them...    If that don't work...  could be under the floor in the main control electronics stuff....   also, there is a snap switch for over temp protection on the back wall of the box... along with the temp sensor...

That's a tough one to find..  let us know what you find...   Dave
