Does it make sense that the Maverick temperature is displaying heat 25 or so degrees LESS than the thermometer that came with the Brinkmann offset?

I did and it was close. I'm just surprised. I would have thought that the temps would have read visa versa. I know heat rises but I was assuming that the Maverick would have been higher than the standard thermometer.

look on the back of the thermometer and see if there is a nut there. I have one that is adjustable and I think quite a few are. Not that you will get a super accurate reading with that one anyway but you might get it closer.

factory therms are almost always inaccurate.  Not surprised it is off that much, my factory therm works fairly accurate to about 250* then goes way off in either direction.

Factory therms are a trip!

On my offset, the factory lid therm reads about 75 degrees LOW.

But that is at normal smoking temps?

Above and below normal smoking temps?  The differential will vary. (technical language right there)

Smokers could be cheaper if they just left out the worthless therms they put in them!

Good luck and good smoking.
