I called Masterbuilt customer service today and asked how much the digital "brain" temp and time controller costs to replace. I was told 39.00. That to me is a good deal that I am happy with.

She also told me that if you keep your original receipt they will honor warrantee problems for up to 1 year. I questioned that because the warrantee states 90 days. She said in most cases if it is a product failure not caused by the customer, they will honor 1 year.

They have the greatest customer service I have seen in todays market. Ya know a person in India that don't speak'ed english, or very well?

Anyway I hopes helps the owner's and possibly new owners of the MES.

I love mine, good luck and good smokes!!

That is the opposite of what I've seen from them. I've e-mailed Masterbuilt 3 times and haven't gotten a single response. I wouldn't think once, never mind twice about getting another of their products and wouldn't hesitate to anyone else that they steer clear of Masterbuilt.

Just my 2 cents.....

Have you tried calling? I have never been dissapointed when I called them. Maybe their email thing isn't working or something, not an excuse for them, and I am not a shill for them either. Maybe your email provider is blocking them as spam, I don't dont know. I do have 2 email addresses from them, shoot me your question and info and I will forward it to them, or even call them if you for some reason can't. But I would call them first!

They don't deserve to be bashed. They have treated me very well. If you don't believe it just do a search for them and look at their ratings, I did before buying their product.

They rate very, very high.

Let me know if I can help.

Good luck, just a very satisfied customer .

I'll try calling, but it is my right to "bash" them if I feel that they haven't shown any effort. So far, it has been like dealing with Thermaltake (computer stuff.) I think that if they can't even acknowledge my issue, I have every right to express my displeasure (no matter how severe.)

For what it's worth, my emails to them were in regard to the 2006 recall of the ESQ30B units. I wanted to know how to tell if my unit had been retrofitted with the recall parts and if it hadn't, how to get the parts to effect the repair. I got mine off Craigslist for $20. It looks like it has only been used once or twice and seems to function properly, but I would hate to see it start a fire. I'd really go off on Masterbuilt then.

Thanks ronp100343 for getting the price on the digital unit. I have been thinking about ordering the digital unit and maybe an heating element, and 1 or 2 door gaskets, as a backup, while the parts are available. A couple of years from now, these parts might not be available.

I will say that one of the reasons I bought the MES was if the unit completely tanked after one year, I could easily buy off the shelf components and jerry rig a decent cabinet style smoker, unless the cabinet burns up or is damaged somehow.

I don't know shawnr, $20 off craigslist, you are not the registered owner, hmmm yes you do have the right to know if you have the upgraded model, or if the model needs to be upgraded. Reading your post reminds me of Amazon reviews, where the item gets 4 stars, 5 people rate the item, four people give 5 stars and one person gives 1 star. Usually the one star is due to a damaged unit, and really not a fair evaluation. You did say the MES seems to be working ok. Hell, my brand new MES from SAMs club came slightly damaged, but the unit works great, if I sent it back, the replacement might be even more damaged.

Ron and others have said they have had decent customer communications with Masterbuilt, I personally called them as well, had no problem. If no email reply from Masterbuilt, then call em [edit out] Good Luck shawnr, but like Ron and many others I think the MES is a great product.

I wouldn't waste their time calling, you are not their customer.

I retract my offer to help you. And I think you have no rights to bash as you are not a registered customer of theirs. I have noticed you are are a regular user of Craigslist, why anybody would honor an inquiry from you when you are a purchaser from a craigslist is beyond me. I have wasted enough time already on this.

Time to move on helping or reading other things.

Good luck though in finding things on the cheap, remember, you get you pay for though.

I have had nothing but great help from their customer service. They don't deserve bashing from you.

I love my MES!!

Again Ron I'm with you, I don't think Shawn should be bashing Masterbuilt or MES since he wasn't the original purchaser, he has no clue what he bought for $20.

However I do think Shawn has the right to ask if his model is the upgraded model or not, due to the recall.

Per my agreeing with Ron I edited my original reply about sure fire method of response, it was inappropriate for this issue.

I thank you sir for backing me up.

Good luck to all and happy smoking. Let's just keep this to legitamite complaints and not just bashing please.
