I've had this smoker for a month or so and like it. Have had a couple of issues with the temp spiking very high, occasionally. Typically when I'm doing a longer smoke. Anyone else have this issue?
Also, does anyone not use the chip loader and just pull the chip tray and put in a bigger load of chips? I've been doing that, but they still seem to burn through them just as fast. If you do use the chip loader, how many times do you add chips before emptying the tray?

welcome aboard,It's popular here to use 5" x 8" A Maze N for generating smoke We like  the extended smokes,cleaner smoke especially since We did the Mail box Mod.I prefer the dust over the pellets when in a hurry.

What's the mailbox mod?
Also, where do you put the a maze n? Can you use any pellets and how long does it smoke? Will it give you a smoke ring?

Put mailbox mod in the search,put the maze at bottom opposite side of heating element,you can use pellets or dust,up to six hours on the dust depending on how much air You give it, haven't tried the pellets yet,check out A maze N web site.
